About Us
Harris Motorsport & BJ Autobits
Steve Harris & Brenda Notley became an item in 1966 after
meeting at Downton School in 1963. Steve Harris started as an
apprentice at Downton Engineering Works under the watchful eye of
Daniel Richmond. In 1971 Steve joined forces with George Toth &
Richard Longman to form the company Richard Longman & Co. Steve
stayed with the company until 1975 when he was asked by Bunty Richmond
to return to run the workshops at Downton Engineering after Daniel’s
death. Downton Engineering work was at a very low point and after 6
months Bunty Richmond decided to call it a day, so at this point Steve
Harris formed his own business - Steve Harris Engineering .
In March 1976 Steve & Brenda were married and Steve had
his workshop just outside of Fordingbridge at Sandleheath. September
1978 moved the business to larger premises in Cranborne. 1992 Brenda
started her business of BJ Autobits alongside Steve in Cranborne. In
2004 both of the businesses again moved to a larger site just outside
of Cranborne at Nine Yews and enjoy the most wonderful spot to do their
work in and accommodate all their many customers.
Steve Harris has a well equipped machine shop / workshop
& rolling road & has had many personal successes & he’s
well respected in the competition world along with the success of many
of his customers, some who have been with him since the beginning and
are still WINNING ! Brenda runs a friendly & efficient well stocked
& computerised shop with over 3000 different lines.
